CBK has established the best kitesurfing club in the UK, setting the standard in both the sport and the location. At CBK, we believe that managed beach facilities is a good option for maintaining beach access for kitesurfing. We want to achieve this by excelling in three areas: improving beach safety; improving kitesurfing time and opportunities in all wind directions, and improving facilities for all members.
CBK HAYLING ISLAND WAS VOTED THE BEST UK KITEBOARDING CLUB 2015, 2016 & 2017 AT THE UK INDUSTRY AWARDS.
The membership fee is £150.00. Members must have valid 3rd party insurance for kite boarding with a £5 million personal indemnity level.
The membership year will always run from April through to March.
Members will benefit from the following:
At minimum of one (but generally two) non kiting CBK members of staff will be on the beach every weekend day between April and the end of October, to provide rescue boat and quad bike cover, first aid, and general kitesurfing support to members. This will also apply to a number of additional weekdays in the main season, and windy weekdays and weekends in the close season.
This will also provide boat cover so members can kitesurf safely in offshore wind conditions, which we estimate increases the kitesurfing opportunities by at least 20 more days per year. The boat can also ferry members out to the sandbar in other conditions (such as directly onshore) so that everyone has more space to kite.
CBK will also provide a number of free SUPs (Stand Up Paddleboards) and kayaks. So if somebody has made a long journey to the beach in vain, it does give them an opportunity for another form of water based activity. Alternatively, you may just fancy trying a new water sport!
You will receive a 10% discount from RRP on all equipment sold through CBK.
CBK will organise events during the year for members, including downwinders and manufacturers demonstration days. In addition, demonstration gear will be regularly transported to the beach by the beach managers, so that members can try out the latest kitesurfing equipment.
You will be given a club rash vest, which you will need to wear when kitesurfing at Hayling. This is a condition of the landowners' license to kitesurf.
The website will contain daily updates on the beach conditions, including wind and tides, and an email will be sent every Friday to all members to advise on the forthcoming weekends forecasted conditions.
For the period from April 2013 to March 2014 there will be a Junior CBK Club membership for under 18s with a subsidised fee of £75 and for under 16s of £30, although they will be required to receive (subsidised) tuition beforehand to confirm their competence to kite upwind before joining as a member. Under 18's must always be accompanied by a guardian or adult for the duration of their activities at West Beach
If students are part of a kitesurfing club, formed and recognised by their school or university, then CBK would be glad to discuss with them some form of discount for affiliating the club to CBK, which will depend on the numbers involved. No further discounts can be given from the Under 16 and under 18 rates published above. However, we would be prepared to support properly formed student clubs with some form of discount from the full member rate.
